The "Classes" List

We create custom classes and workshops on many sciences.

Here are five of the sciences our clients are currently finding most relevant.

The Science of Right Now

Understand modern minds and win with modern audiences.

How are people’s psychology, social norms, and expectations changing, and how is this relevant to your work? With experiences that make you feel how norms are changing and attention spans are shortening, you will learn the newest and most relevant science of the moment. With activities that further apply the science in bespoke ways to your work and your audiences, you’ll walk out with insights, strategies, and design ideas for reaching people in modern times.

The Science of Wow!

Make things that make people say, “Wow!”

How do you make the content, experiences, and products that make people say, “Wow!”? This class combines behavioral science research, Dr. Troy Campbell’s work as a Disney Imagineer, and OYF’s 20+ year history of helping companies create products, experiences, services, cultures, and events that make people say, “Wow!” You’ll walk out of the class saying, “Wow!” about how awesome the science of “wow” is and with specific ideas to bring more “wow” to your work.

The Science of Solution Aversion

Learn how to reach audiences who resist good ideas and good solutions.

Why do people resist good ideas and solvable problems? In this unique and experiential class you’ll learn and feel some of those forces that lead to resistance. The class will help you take on the psychological and emotional perspectives of the people who deny your valid and logical arguments. This class explores the forces from Dr. Campbell’s original research, including the Franke Prize Winner research on “Solution Aversion, and behavioral science in general. You’ll walk out with a new perspective on forces that lead to denial and with practice of how to de-bias others and overcome their resistance.

The Science of Creativity

Discover new ways to think and act creatively.

What is creativity? To find out, take an experiential journey with us beginning with the classic science of creativity, such as divergence versus convergence, and go beyond to the cutting edge neuroscience, the social psychology of group creativity, and much more. The science is paired with experiences tailored to your work so you can immediately start applying the science and developing new creative habits.

The Science of Cool

Create stories and brands that stand out in new ways.

What makes something cool? Discover the literal, academic “science of cool.” In this completely unique engagement, you’ll learn the scientific research of what makes something cool and exciting, as well as how the definition of cool is (and is not) changing in modern times. The class features everything from battle rap manifestos to deep science. You’ll walk out with new ideas and a transformed understanding of what makes an idea or product “cool.”

Additional Topics

The Science of Story, Choice, Habit, Empathy, Memory, and Many More

Classes or class series often combine the science of multiple topics for maximal impact.

“The Science of . . .” is led by Dr. Troy H. Campbel

Troy’s philosophy is, “scientific mind, artistic heart.” He is a behavioral science PhD from Duke University, a former Oregon marketing professor, a former Disney Imagineer and Netflix Consumer Insights researcher, and has produced some of the most talked about recent academic behavioral science research that has influenced the biggest companies and presidential advisors. He is our chief scientist here at On Your Feet.

“Brilliant research!”

Dr. Adam Grant, Scientist | Author of Give and Take

"Troy's work for us was fundamental and brilliant."

Dr. Michael Crooke, Former CEO of Patagonia | Founder of Way-B

“I stumble across situations regularly (weekly, if not more) where I recall something that came from Troy and the rest of the OYF team.  If you are talking about innovation, purposeful connection, leading great teams or being a good person, you should ask OYF for their take.”

Casey Ingle, Global Marketing Director | Owens Corning
