1-Minute Connect
Ways for your team to share and personally connect in 60 seconds or less
Humans have an evergreen and everyday need to feel connection. Yet when people work together, a feeling of connection can often be absent. So, don’t leave efforts to connect for just the big award days and celebration events. Make it an everyday thing.
6 Ways to Connect in 60 Seconds
Remember the point here is to spark water cooler conversation in intentional ways. This is something very important for distributed teams.
1. Share a Moment of Joy
Start a meeting by having each team member share a moment of joy they had this week where something made them happy at work or somewhere else.
2. Watch a Video Together
Put on a short video, like a YouTube video about your consumer base or a new trend, and then chat about it.
3. This Week I Read
Have each team member share one interesting fact they read, whether related or not related to work.
4. Trivia
Do a short round of trivia (e.g., watch a single category from “Jeopardy” on YouTube) or play a round created by a teammate related to work or not.
5. Story About
Begin with a prompt like, “What’s the story of how you got your first name or nickname,” and then have people tell the stories in a group or in breakouts.
6. I Don’t Understand
A team member says “I don’t understand . . .” and then says something like “TikTok” or “pivot tables.” Then others give really quick answers.
