Learning On Your Feet
To most people, learning and getting an education is a
painful process consisting of long nights mugging, tons of
assignments and boring lectures.
To the enlightened team at
On Your Feet however, learning is an exciting process of discovery
that is best motivated by a generous dose of laughter and
fun.
And that is exactly what this improvisational theatre group
gave corporate audiences at this year's Learning Symposium held over
a two-day period from 6-7 Nov. In the short 90-minute segment given
by On Your Feet founders, Gary Hirsch and Robert Poynton, and their
team, they had the audience involved and engaged from the
get-go.

Apart from doing basic theatrical
improvisation on stage, On Your Feet had the audience
participating enthusiastically in the improvisation. Relying
on nothing more than an eager spirit and a healthy dose of
imagination, members of the audience were charged with
exchanging gifts with each other.
Imaginations ran wild as each person
pictured their present in their mind as they gave it to their
partners, and it was nothing short of hilarious at the
interplay between giver and receiver, as presents were
unwrapped and its contents revealed for all to see in their
mind's' eye.
And this is just the beginning of what On
Your Feet teaches corporations to do in sessions that are
designed specifically to suit the needs of each client, with
each event being a refreshing and innovative
experience.
Not bad for a company that proclaims itself
the product of one of the world's many mistakes, and in seven
years, turned itself into a successful network organization
spanning four countries, and pulsating with life, humour and
creative vibrancy. |

They specialize in helping corporations and individuals
reinvent themselves, an important asset in an economy that is
unforgiving of those who are unable to go with the flow and
easily adapt to new situations.
Some of their clients
include big names like Nike and FedEx, two companies that have
shown the world the product of that innovation and
creativeness through their memorable marketing campaigns,
innovative product offerings and their ability to predict
market needs.
It's high time that Singaporeans learn to
loosen up and chill out. While it is true that most of us were
weaned on a staple diet of conformity and rope learning, never
questioning or voicing out opinions, we all have a creative
streak just waiting to surface if we but till it.
Not
only will learning become a more enjoyable and rewarding
process, you will actually have loads of fun in the
process.
After all, who said learning had to be
dull? | |
